Ricardo Alvarado (he/they)
Ricardo learned at a young age that expressing themselves through sport was not an option; thus they took to exploring various other mediums to find a sufficient outlet. They grew up painting on their father's knee and began to look at the world with a sense of wonder and enthusiasm that most ppl seemed to leave behind as they got older. They studied at the U of S Drama Dept, are a proud member of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, and are happy to be a part of Saskatoon’s vibrant theatre scene. They have worked with most of the theatre companies in Saskatoon, whether on stage or behind the scenes.. including Persephone Theatre, SUM Theatre, Shakespeare on the Sk, Live Five, La Troupe du Jour, Greystone Theatre, Saskatoon Summer Players, and Saskatoon Opera.
Over the years, Ricardo found themselves consistently being cast as "the drag queen", which led them to develop their alter ego, Puffy von Pop-n-Fresh, who has held the titles of Miss Gay Saskatoon (twice), Miss Prairie Pride Diva, and Entertainer of the Year for Regina and all of Saskatchewan. Recently they had the privilege of being the instructor and mentor for “Drag CAMP!” at Persephone Theatre, which gave a group of teens the opportunity to not only create a drag persona but to learn all the tricks of the trade, ending with a heartwarming performance for friends and family. Ricardo still picks up the paintbrush in their spare time and has been an avid member of Artists Against Hunger for over 20 years.

Ricardo has found not only a partner but a friend, in Kelsey Stone. She continues to inspire him and make him a stronger artist with every show they bring to life. They would like to thank their parents for always believing in them, and for providing such a chaotic atmosphere from which to discover a sense of self.
Merde.
